The Williams family was in Rowan Co by 7 Feb 1786 when their daughter Jean married David Hillard. They had known the Hadens in Fluvanna Co and apparently followed William and Joseph to North Carolina.

One of the executors of the will of Elias Williams, was "his near neighbor and friend Capt. Douglas Haden [son of William and Unity Haden]. The will was written 14 Oct 1799 and Elias mentions land of Douglas Haden where his crops are "now growing". It was proved May 1800.
