William Baker Comstock

(14 Oct 1842 - 7 Feb 1905)



William was a lumberman, timber jobber and contractor. Shortly after 1862 he left home and sailed for about two years on the great lakes. In 1864, he joined his brother Andrew in Alpena, MI where they engaged in the lumber business under the name of Bewick, Comstock & Co. In 1871 they established a bank - the Alpena Banking Company.
