David Samuel Harmon, age 82, of Belding, went home to Heaven on September 23, 2017. He was born on November 13, 1934 in Howell, Michigan to his parents, James Harmon and Ruby Gardner.
He married his Eternal wife: Inez Louise Musser on June 27, 1953 in Williamston, Michigan, and were sealed in the Temple on June 14, 1972 in Provo, Utah, for all time and eternity. A Korean War Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to1955 as a radio repairman. He later worked at Dow Chemical, GM, and Honeywell as an engineer. He then owned and operated his own electronic components repair, service and engineering company, IDa Instrument Service, retiring in 1998.
His accomplishments include serving as Bishop of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, 1983 High Console, Ward Mission Leader, and many other callings over the 50 years as a member.
His dear family members include a brother, James and sisters Marsha, Marilyn and Kitty, Karen Eileen. He is also survived by his loving wife of 64 years: Inez; and their beautiful daughters, Carla ( Rodney) Moore, Cynthia (Rodney) Rackham, Davida (Roger & Penny) Bailey, Anita (Gary) Fletcher, and Rhonda (James) Haney, Thao and Tam (Laurelai); 28 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; with 3 more on the way! They also took into their home and loved several other children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Davida Bailey and grandchildren: Teffany and Dion Moore and Tara Rackham.
Dave was a simple man who loved fishing and hunting, star gazing and nature in general. We love you and look forward to the time when we can all be together again!
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10700 W. Carson City Road, Greenville, Michigan 48838, with Bishop Redding officiating. The family will also greet visitors at the Church for an hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will immediately follow at Otisco Township Cemetery.
