Delia M. Seagraves

(1867 - )

I have looked for family of Delia. I cannot find anyone near her age in 1880 with the surname Seagraves. In 1870, there was a family that had a 1-year-old named "M. D."
They were in Van Buren, Crawford Co., Hh 324
Gabr. Seagraves, age 40, b. TN
Mary, age 33, b. AR
Levi 12, M. M. [female] age 9, Henrietta age 5, M. D., female, age 1.
Edward Barr, 14, farm labor

I have found a tentative family for a Gabriel, born to Isaac Seagraves & his wife Polly, circa 1831, TN. Gabriel's wife may have been Mary Coatney, born about 1838, died before 1889.

Census Record 1860 Cedar Creek, Crawford Co, Arkansas
SEGRAVES, Gabriel 25 NC
Mary 21 Arkansas
Levi Z 3 Arkansas
Mahala M. 5/12 Arkansas

Gabriel served in the 1st AR Cavalry as a Private [Union]

Found online: The family may have gone to California:
From the California Trains, Camp on Smoky River KS 40 miles W Ft Harkey, May 30, 1869. G Segraves and family J. Hargrove driver. Other families from Crawford Co, Wm Ellis, Wm Johnson , Jackson White, James White, Joe Howell, Wm Dwyer, C. Johnson, A Johnson, G. Maller, A. Palmtag, A. Nelson [The problem with this record is that in 1870, Gabriel was in Crawford Co, AR]

Son Levi can be found living in Sequoyah Co, IT in 1900; then in Oklahoma, the same county in 1900 and 1910. His wife was Mary Ann Mathews; they married 17 Nov 1878, Crawford Co.
Daughter Henrietta is said to have married Jesse Valentine Toon, 7 Oct 1883, Crawford Co. She was born 24 Jan 1864, Crawford Co and died 4 Apr 1947, Broken Arrow, Tulsa Co, AR

Another online database stated that Mary Coatney, wife of Gabriel married C. B. Drennan 7 Sep 1880 in Crawford Co and that Mary died before August of 1888. The only Drennan in the 1880 census in Crawford Co was Chas. Drenan, age 31, brother-in-law of Charles G. Scott, working as a clerk in a store in Van Buren. The census was taken 8 Jun 1880.
This Chas. Drennen, could be the Charles H. Drennen, b. 1849, d. 1926, who was a son of John Drennen, the founder of Van Buren - his sister Caroline was indeed married to a Scott. But whether or not the man was the second husband of Mary Coatney Seagraves, I could not determine. One online database said Charles H., son of John Drennan, never married - he had no wife in 1880 or in 1900 [if he is the same man that married Mary Coatney Seagraves, they married and she died prior to 1890 and they would not have appeared in a census together. In 1900, Charles Drennen was living with a Scott nephew and his widowed sister Caroline Scott, along with other members of the family.
