H.M. Harmon has received the news of the death of his brother, William Harmon, at Canton, S.D. Death occurred on April 28. It must have been sudden and unexpected. The relatives here had not been informed that Mr. Harmon was ill.
Deceased was the oldest brother of H. M. Harmon. He was a pioneer settler of Spring Creek township and enlisted from that township at the opening of the Civil War in Co. D, Thirty-first Iowa volunteers, the same company in which Henry Stephens enlisted. He served about four years. About ten years ago he moved to South Dakota.
Mr. Harmon is survived by a wife, two sons and two daughters, one of the latter being Mrs. Monroe Ashley of LaPorte City. There also survive a sister living in South Dakota, a brother, David Harmon, living in Kansas, and a brother, George W. also living in South Dakota, besides the brother here.
