Wilton Scott Murphy

(7 Aug 1904 - )

Wilton Murphy applied for membership in the SAR, 11 Feb 1961, based on the service of Roger Murphy in the Revolution. His application was accessed on Ancestry.com, August 2012.
Sources listed for the application include the following. A Murphy Bible record. Tombstones of Charles and Emmie Scott Murphy at Mountain Springs Cemetery; tombstones of Thomas M. & Mary M. Murphy at White Plains Cemetery - all in Anderson Co SC. South Carolina Wills of Ezekiel and Roger Murphy Jr. Copies of Indent File of Roger Murphy and a SC History by Yates Snowden.
I cannot help but speculate if Wilton Murphy had the Memorial stone for Roger Murphy Jr and his wife placed at the Big Creek Church in Williamston, Anderson Co SC - where they are not buried. The stone there is much newer than would be expected for their dates of death and it is believed they are buried Bartow Co [formerly Cass] where they died.

There is both a Mountain Springs and a Mountain Springs Baptist Cemetery - Charles and Emmie Murphy are buried in the latter, as per FindAGrave.
