Son-in-law Philip J. Irion was administrator of the Estate of Thomas P. Carsey, June Term of Court 1836. His report Aug Term 1838, shows a value of the estate at $3906.42 - signed on 4 Aug 1838. The estate papers state that Thomas P. Carsey died 26 May 1836.

Bill presented to Chancery by the heirs which included five minor children whose Guardian was Stephen Nolen. The deceased owned the following land: a tract of 113 acres, bounded by Andrew Goff, Margaret Goff. Another tract of 100 acres on the waters of the Big Harpeth, adjoining John Donelson's preemption. Another tract of 100 acres on headwaters of Hays and Mills Creek adjoining Philip J. Irion, Leonard & Richard Vernon, Henry Tinall, Blakely Wilkinson and Samuel R. Shannon. Three town lots in Franklin. The widow Sarah Carsey is entitled to dower; she has accepted a compensation in lieu of dower. The other heirs have agreed she is to have 70 acres during her natural life which has been laid off. She is to have one-ninth of the proceeds from the 100 acres on Hays & Mill Creeks, and the town lots. It is in the best interest of all to sell the properties except the widow's dower. In possession of the administrator Philip J. Irion are 12 slaves: Silvy aged 61, Tabby aged 56, Ned 53, Alexander 25, Clary 23, Claborn 16, Auris 14, Squire 13, John 7, Mary , Henry aged 3, and an unnamed boy about 7 months old. Irion is willing that a division be made. He has enough assets to pay the debts of the estate.
The nine heirs are the widow, Sarah Carsey, and Philip J. Irion & wife Sarah A., Eli A. Waters and Mary E. his wife, Labon Waters and Martha L. his wife, and the following who are minors: Thomas P., James M. William H., Isadora M. and Francis M. Carsey.

Stephen Nolen made desposition that he was the Guardian and their interests would be best suited by the bill above.

Division of slaves by the Commissioners was 26 Dec 1837. Each of the recipients had to either pay or be paid certain sums of money to insure equality. Sarah Carsey was awarded Auris. The Irions received John and Tabby. Eli and Mary Walters received Clary. Laben & Martha Walters were allotted Squire. Set aside for the five minor children were Alexander, Claiborn, Mary, Henry, Ned, George age 10 months, and Silvey.

The properties were sold and the proceeds distributed. Report dated 12 Nov 1839.
