Kathryn Haden

Her father Charles Anthony Haden, age 44, was born her Missouri; her mother Mary Kate Smith, age 35, was born in Mississippi. Mary now has 6 living children - 7 have been born to her. Funeral services were held recently in Corsicana for a former Blooming Grove resident, Miss Kathryn Haden. She died while vacationing in Boca Raton, Fla. Burial was in Dresden Cemetery.
Miss Haden began her teaching career in the Fort Worth public schools in 1926 and taught Physical Education at several schools before joining the faculty at Arlington Heights High School, Fort Worth, as physical education teacher the year the school was opened in 1938. She became dean of girls in 1944 and served in this capacity until 1965.
During her early teaching years, she played professional baseball and basketball for the Sunoco Oilers and received the nickname of "Babe."
Miss Haden had a bachelor's degree from TCU and a master's from the University of Southern California. After retirement, she lived in Dallas.
Surviving are four sisters, Miss Mary Haden of California, Miss Clementine Haden, Corsicana, Mrs. Frances Vandiver, Joshua, and Mrs. Martha Hooser of Frost.
