Individual Details
( - Aft 1185)
Ida was a mistress to the King, one of several. It is believed she may have been the daughter of Ralph V de Tony who died 1162 in Hertfordshire, by his wife Margaret. She became the wife of Roger Bigod, Earl of Norfolk. There are documents in which William Longespée names his mother as Countess Ida. When William was captured at the Battle Bouvines, 1214, another captive was Ralph Bigod referred to as brother (half-brother) to William, Earl of Salisbury. There are naming patterns and familial and political connections, but no conclusive proof.
