Ela of Salisbury

Ela was the daughter and heiress of William of Salisbury, William Fitz Patrick, 2nd Earl of Salisbury, by Eleanor de Vitré. After Sir William died, she founded Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire, circa 1229. she became a nun at Lacock in 1238 and served as abbess from 1240 to 1257. She is buried at the Abbey.
