Sir John Beauchamp

(Ca 1285 - By 1346)

Sir John was a Knight. He was Lord of Ryme, Dorsetshire and of Oburnford, Oulescombe, Teignhervy and Buckerell, Devonshire.

He married first by about 1311 to Joan, maiden name unknown, at which time his father settled lands on them in Woburnford, County Devon.. Other researchers have stated he married by 1344 Alice de Nonant, daughter and coheir of Sir Roger de Nonant, Lord of Cliston or Brode Clist, Devonshire. Alice is generally accepted as the mother of John, born about 1315.

Another note on the marriage from Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists, 8th Edition, by Beall and Beall, p226
"Charles Fitz Northern, The Genealogist 9, (1988): p. 9 and p. 30 note 86, says that John married by 1311, Joan, not Alice, de Nonant, dau. of Roger de Nonant of Broad Clyst, county Devon, and Isabell Bonville."
