6th 9mo 1744 At this meeting Joseph DOAN appeared and requested a Certificate for himself and family to Buckingham monthly meeting he being removed within the bounds of that meeting, therefore Stephen WILSON and Thomas ROBINSON are appointed to make enquire into the said Joseph life and Conversation in order that he may have a certificate, and make reporte to next monthly meeting.
There is a book, The Doane Family and their Descendants, published by the Doane Family Assn, Boston, 1902.
The Doanes descend from immigrant John Doane, first in Plymouth about 1630 - there is a sketch in The Great Migration Begins 1620-1633, Vol.1-3
