Gabriel Jones appears in Essex Co VA records from 1735. In 1744 he leased two tracts of land from William Beverley in Orange Co, a part which became Culpeper Co, VA. They were on the Elk River. He also received a Northern Neck Grant, PB G, p. 104 and 250, from Lord Fairfax - 1000 acres on Crooked Run, and on 5 Aug 1749 an additional 500 acres adjoining the first tract.

No record of his military service has been found but some records refer to him as Major, and in 1767 as Col. Gabriel Jones.

Wife Mary does not appear in Culpeper records after 1759; Gabriel disappears after 1767.

7 Jan 1747.
