Individual Details
Daniel Comstock
(10 Apr 1793 - 19 Jul 1864)
Daniel moved to Scioto County, Ohio, just after his marriage. In 1834, the family moved to Indiana and then two years later moved by ox team to Iowa. He was a member of the first county Court of Muscatine County. In 1839, he moved to Cedar Co, Iowa, where he was one of the first County Commissioners. He helped lay out the town of Tipton. He may have been the Daniel Comstock in the War of 1812, from Davis, NY, 1st Regt; served from 24 Dec 1813 to 1 Mar 1814.
Only two children are listed in the Comstock book. It is thought he had three more sons and two more daughters. The 1850 census shows a son John, a son Daniel, possibly a son David, and a daughter Hannah, accounting for the sons and one more of the daughters.
