Casper and his brothers Adam and David settled very early in the Yadkin River Valley in the area that continues to be known as the Jersey Settlement. They had come from the German Palatinate. Gasper Smith was naturalized 22 Sep 1763. He purchased several hundred acres just below the Trading Ford on the Yadkin. Gasper's wife was Margaret and they had three sons, four daughters.
