A William C. Perkins is seen in databases as part of this family - I did find him living in Greene Co, MO, but in 1900, he gave a birth of Jun 1858 - two years before James & Margaret married. He also stated both of his parents were born in North Carolina. His wife was a Nancy J. - listed by some as also being a Perkins but without proof. Also James & Margaret named another son William P. Perkins, born about 1874. I think it more likely William C. is the younger brother of James who married Nancy Short.

However, it is true that in 1900, Margaret stated she had had 14 children and I can account for only 13 without William C. - although some databases list daughters Margaret & Lydia, neither of which ever appear in a census.
