Cicily Morton Nance

( - )

Cicily/Sicily is said to be the daughter of William Howe Nance and Elizabeth Veneable Morton, both of Virginia

William Nance moved to Davidson County, TN about 1806 or 1807. Built the "Rural Vale" homestead and is buried there alongside his wife. Was a justice of the peace for Davidson County from 1817-1837. Helped form the Primitive Baptist Church 3 miles away on the waters of Mill Creek and preached there at times.
William and Elizabeth were married 22 Apr 1802, Pittsylvania Co VA

Elizabeth Morton said to be the daughter of Joseph Morton and Mary Ann Morton. Joseph's father was Josiah; his mother Elizabeth Venable of Louisa Co VA. I don't know if Mary Ann was truly a Morton before the marriage to Joseph; if so, she was likely a cousin.

Josiah Morton died 28 Nov 1785, Charlotte Co VA, and said to be the son of Joseph Morton and Agnes Woodson.
