SERVICE: Served as Private in Capt. John Montgomery's Co., Col. William Christie's Virginia Regt. Served one month under Captain John Draper against the Indians. (See pension claim W. 2987)
(Known) Children: Elizabeth William Gastineau; James m. 23 Jun 1791 to Nancy McKenzie; Rebecca m. Sadler. [Interesting that neither an Elizabeth with these names or Rebecca are mentioned in the deed below - I believe they were not daughters of thisJohn Barron.]

NSDAR. Ancestor #A006753. John Barron served under Capts Montgomery, Trigg, Draper & Smith and Cols. Robertson & Sevier. He served from both Montgomery Co, VA and Washington Co, NC. Wife was Susannah McBee. The following children were used for applications: Evan/Evans who married Jemima Hicks, James who married Nancy McKenzie, Matthias M., who married Martha McMillan, Elizabeth who married James Cox. The above Marilyn Ashton Strickland was received through the son James.

John Barren, served as Private. Annual allowance, $26.66 - rec'd $79.98. Served in Virginia militia. Placed on roll 18 Jul 1834 - pension commenced on 4 Mar 1831. Age, 84.

A Pulaski KY deed from Deed Book 13, p.536-539 is dated 25 Apr 1846 and is between the heirs of David Souder & Elizabeth his wife and the heirs of John Barron, deceased, to Even E. Barron. It was for two tracts of land in Pulaski Co on Brush Creek. The first was 84 acres and mentions James Gilmore's corner, Ralph Williams' line, John Sipsey's corner and line, the creek. The second tract was 194 acres, and mentions a sugartree, John Barron's corner, bank of Brush creek, crossing the creek. Signed by all parties.
Heirs of David & Elizabeth Souder were: Nancy Bowman, Selden C. Fish & wife Martha, Thomas Blalock & Rebecca his wife, Elizabeth Basen, Adam Sowder, Levi Souder, Andrew J. Souder, David Souder and others whose names are unknown.
Heirs of John Barron were Mary "Polly" Pointer, James Cox & Elizabeth his wife, James Barron, John Barron, Mathias Barron, Walker Barron, Perry W.
