Will. Mayes of Halifax...
To wife Sarah, home plantation and whole estate during life or widowhood, then to be divided:
To son Drury Mays, son of Sarah, my plantation including 225 acres at the lower end
To son Beverly Mays, sons of Sarah, the reaminder of the home tract.
The whole estate to be kept together until my youngest child, Johannah, daughter of Sarah, arrives at age 21, to have a maintenance.
To son William Mays, a ewe lamb with what he has before received.
My tract of land called ?Nyeds to be divided to make 2 planatations and Thomas Lovelace and Alexander Hittson should adjudge the odds and give to Spicey the meanest part. I likewise give the whole tract to my son Gardner Mays and my son David Mays. [this makes little sense - there seems to be some problem with transcription...]
To daughter Chloe Bates - a ewe lambe with what she has received
To daughter Winford sullins - a ewe lamb with what she has received
To daughter Rhoda Mays - 1 cow & calf & feather bed
To Elizabeth Mays - 1 cow & calf & feather bed
To Johanna Mays - 1 cow & calf & feather bed
At death or marriage of my wife and the arriving of the young children to age 21, whatever remains, to be equally divided among my children
Executors: wife Sarah and sons Gardner and David Mays.
Wit: John Cardey, Alexander Doughlas, Hunley Day
Probate: Halifax Court, 29 Jul 1794, Will was exhibited; Sarah & David Mays granted certificate for probate with secuity: William Moore, Beverly Mays, Drury Mays, reserving liberty to Gardner Mays to join in the probate when he shall see cause.

Estate of William Mayes appraised and took inventory, 11 Oct 1794. Items included negro Primis, 1 side saddle. Total value: 110# 5sh.
