In the name of God amen I Jn’. Bolling of the County of Chesterf’d being of sound mind & memory, but knowing the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of life, do make this my last will and testament in the following manner
Viz, Im primis I lend to my wife during her natural life or widowhood, all my lands in the County of Chesterfield, and the following slaves to wit, Furlong, Abraham, Bob, Phill, Moses, Joshua, Pattiguor [sic] Jacob, Buttermilk Jacob, Jerry, Simon, Martha, Jug, Mosley, Doll, Sally, Patty, Prudence, Leiss [sic], Nanny, Ussey V Young, Patty. Also all my Houshold & Kitchen Furniture also all my stock of Horses, Cattle Hogs & Sheep which may belong to the said plantation at the time of my death except a young mare called Maria White Stockings. Also all the grain and crops of every kind which may be upon the plantation at the time of my death and the said plantation utensils all of which property I lend to my said wife in lieu of her Dower.

Item: I give to my said wife my Carriage and Carriage Horses to dispose of to such of my children as she think proper at her death.

Item: I give to my son Edwd Bolling all my lands in Goochland county to him & his heirs forever but if upon an accurate survey of the lands I have heretofore conveyed to my son John Bolling,-- it be found that I have not given him as much land as I now have in Goochland, then & in that case I give to my son Jno and his heirs forever as much of my said Goochland land as will make the tract I have given him as aforesaid equal in quantity with the lands intended to be given to my son Edward, beginning at Lickinhole creek and running a line paralled with my said son John’s line to the back line.

Item: I give to my son Robert Bolling and to his heirs forever, all my lands in Albermarle County.....

Item: I give to my son Archd Bolling and to his heirs forever, all my lands in Campbell County unless it shall so turn out, that my perishable property / inclusive of negroes / shall not be sufficient to discharge my debts, then & in that case I desire & direct that my Executors before they shall make sale of any of my slaves will sell five hundred acres of my said lands in Campbell County for the purpose of paying my debts & convey the same to the purchaser, the said five hundred acres to be laid off in such manner as will as the least injury to my said son Archibald‘s planatation, & as can be best spared from his said tract, and at the Death or marriage of my wife I give to my said son Archibald Bolling & his heirs forever, all my lands in the county of Chesterfd which I have herein before lent to my wife......

Item: I desire that all the rest & residue of my Estate after payment of my Debts, may be equally divided between my sons Edwd Bolling, Robert Bolling & Archd Bolling an their heirs respectively and my Grandson Jefferson Archer, if he shall live to marry and have a live born child, and I desire that when my said three last mentioned sons shall have their parts of the Estate contained in that clause of my will allotted to them, that my Executors shall hire out the part intended for my said Grandson, for the benefit of my said three sons untill my said Grandson shall marry & have issue, & upon that contingency to deliver the same to him and his heirs, but in case he shall die before he shall marry & have a child born alive, then the part hereby intended for him I give to my said sons Edwd, Robert, & Archiblad to them and their heirs.

Item: I give to my son Archd twenty five pounds to be paid to him out of the Estate herein given to my sons Edwd & Robert Bolling.

Item: I desire that the slaves and other personal Estate I have lent to my wife, may not be sold for the payments of my debts, so long as there are any other Slaves belonging to my Estate unsold.

Item: I do hereby appoint my sons Edwd Bolling, Robt Bolling & Archd Bolling my Executors of this my last will & Testament hereby revoking all other & former wills by me hereforeto made & declaring this to be my last. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this 17th day of February in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred.
