John Elderkin....born in England ca 1612. Came to New England ...Lynn, MA, 1637. In 1641 at Dedham, MA, 1646 at Reading MA, 1648 at Providence RI, New London CT in 1651. He build a corn mill at each place. In 1663 he moved to Norwich CT and built the first mill and church there. In 1664 he moved to Killingworth, CT. He returned to Norwich after 1671 and died there 13 Jun 1687, aged 75. First wife was Abigail [note in margin had "Kingsland" handwritten]. Second marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Drake Gaylord, daughter of John Drake and widow of William Gaylord on 1 Mar 1660. She died at Norwich 8 Jun 1716, aged 95 years.

Some references state that John was born in Lynn MA. There was no Lynn yet at the time he was born. His first records is in that place in 1637.Endnotes
