Lucinda, age 56, b. KY
All born in Kentucky: Mary 30. Crotia 24. Wm. 21. George 11 [grandson that was still living with them in 1880]. Crotia A. Hodge, age 58. [Lucinda's sister]

Apparently Crotia had gone back to visit family in Clark Co KY when she died. I've looked at the censuses there in 1860 and 1870. In 1860, I found on the same page living in Winchester - Levi Thomson, age 31, with his young family, and Sally Oden, age 58, with her husband John L. Next door to the Odens on this page was also a Jas. Thomson, age 66. I'm sure these Thomsons must have been some relation to Crotia. I never found any family that seemed to be that of her sister Elizabeth.
In 1870, in Winchester, Hh 8, I did find an Elizabeth Scarce [not Searce], age 65, or born about 1805 in Kentucky. I think it likely this is the sister. She had what appeared to be assorted family members living with her Henry age 24, Milton age 22, and Joseph Owens, age 30 with wife Alice, age 24, and James Gelkie age 32 with his wife America age 29 and three young children. Next door was Zilla Scarce, Black, age 60, a domestic servant. Even with all the extra names and the likelihood that family had owned slaves, I was still unable to go back and find Elizabeth in 1860. Strangely enough none of her neighbors in 1870 can be found in 1860 either - almost as though a neighborhood was missed in 1860.
Levi Thompson was still in Winchester in 1870, Hh 164, but Sally Oden was not to be found.

In 1850, Crotia T. Hodge was living with John Thompson and his wife Sarah. She had two young men with her, Edward W. age 20, and James age 18. They are dittoed with the Hodge surname. If these young men were her sons, it is likely they had died prior to her death in 1865, as she named no children in her will. It is always possible they were nephews she was raising. John Thompson was age 76, born in Virginia and Sarah was 70, also born Virginia. The previous family on the page was that of James Thompson, age 54 - age-wise he could have been a brother to Crotia. Crotia gave to no bequests to anyone with the surname Thompson or Thomson, although a Levi Thomson witnessed. He is surely the Levi Thompson listed on the same page in 1850, then age 23 and probably living with his brother John, age 25. They are likely sons of James, age 54; and nephews of Crotia.
