The 1830 Census, Hamilton, Madison Co NY, suggests indeed that Francis Hamilton might have had a son named Reuben. Perhaps Reuben and his wife are the couple that have been living with Francis in 1810 & 1820. In 1830, Reubin Hamilton is listed with 1 male age 40-50 [b. 1780-1790], 1m 80-90 [could this be Francis, b. 1740-1750?], 1f age 30-40.
It is also interesting to note that in this 1830 census, next to Oliver Gillet, is a young Reuben Gillet...he was age 20-30 and seems to have a spouse of the same age. They lived quite close to Reuben Hamilton. Harriet Gillette married Reuben's much younger brother Very Hamilton. Oliver Gillet was married to Rhoda Comstock, quite possibly a stepsister to Reuben.
