Consider Law
(Ca 1760 - 4 Aug 1820)
Consider was baptized in January of 1760/1, but apparently his grave marker says he died in 1820 at age 64, which would suggest a birth year of 1756. Most New Enlgand children were baptized soon after birth and the Laws had children baptized in both 1756 and 1758 - it's unlikely Consider was born in 1756 and not baptized until five years later.
Consider was the 9th child of Samuel and Mary Law whose children were baptized in the Goshen Congregational Church, Lebanon, CT. He was an early settler of Paris, Oneida Co, NY. In 1800, in company with his second wife's relatives, he took up land in Adams, Jefferson Co, NY. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Adams, Sept 1802. He lived there about 7 years, but returned to Oneida Co, residing in Kirkland until 1816. He moved with his sons, Consider Jr. and George to Westmoreland. The Second Church of Christ of Westmoreland was organized 20 Jun 1818, and Consider, his wife Sally, sons Consider Jr and George W. and daughter Maria were among the first members. Daughters Caroline and Adeline [twins] joined later.
He is buried Bartlett Cemetery, Westmoreland.
