Individual Details

Absalom is found in the Tippah Co MS census in 1850 - two entries from Delitha Hays. Both were born in North Carolina. Some of Absalom's children born in Tennessee. I hoped looking at Absalom might take me back to an earlier Hays family, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Instead his wife's trail let back to the Pledge family in Goochland VA.

There were lots of McCauleys living in Orange Co NC in 1840 - none of them were Absalom. His wife's family was already in Fayette, Co TN. A John and William McAuley were in Fayette in 1840, but I did not find Absalom. He may have already been in Mississippi. He was on page 29, following page 28 where Delitha Hays is found in 1840.
