Missouri Death Certificate 18024. Edward died in Columbia, Boone Co on 30 May 1939 of heart disease. He was born 12 Sep 1876. Wife was Opal Blythe Carter. He was a farmer, born in Boone Co. His father was John W. Carter, born Fairfax Co, VA; his mother Margaret Haden, b. Boone Co MO. The informant was Mrs. Virginia Hisler of Columbia and he was buried Columbia Cemetery.

FindAGrave states he was first married to Nellie Lowery; second to Opal Rupard Blydthe. A newspaper copy of his obituary is on the webpage. He had married Nellie in 1901 and they had three children, one of whom had died sometime earlier. Nellie died in 1932. Edward had married Opal on Jan 24, just before he died in May of 1939. Two sisters, three brothers, survived him but were not named. Pallbearers were Haden Bright, Shirley Bright, Harold Duncan, Kenneth Duncan, Carson Prather, and Robert Smith.

John W. Carter, son of Edward and Nellie Carter was born 1904, died 14 Mar 1920 and is buried Columbia Cemetery - he is obviously the child who had died as mentioned in the Obituary above.
Nellie L. Carter is buried Columbia Cemetery, born 29 Oct 1883, died 8 Feb 1832. She was the daughter of W. P. and Mary (Hudson) Lowery.
Edward's second wife, Orpha Opal Rupard Blythe Carter is also buried Columbia Cemetery. Opal was born 13 Nov 1892 and died 7 May 1945. She was a school teacher, the daughter of John H. and Ellen Buoy Rupard. Apparently she had an earlier marriage.
