Festus C. Williams, 89, Dies in Grand Island
Festus C. Williams, 89, of 316 East Eighth in Grand Island, a former Ord and Arcadia resident, died Tuesday, Feb 26, in Grand Island. He would have been 90 March 3rd. He had been ill about six month.
Graveside services were held in the Arcadia cemetery Saturday afternoon with Rev Merrill officiating. Hastings-Pearson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Williams was born at Brock, Nebraska, March 3, 1873. He married Lillie E. Nygren at Arcadia in 1895. (Another obit states they married on Thanksgiving Day, 1895) He was a member of the Ord Methodist Church. He lived in Arcadia and Ord until 1949, when he moved to Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife and a son Wilford, both of Grand Island; a daughter Iola Grunkemeyer of Sun Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, four sisters, a brother, and two half-brothers.
