Ruby Sissel Haden, 99, died Monday Sept 6, 1999, at Buckner Baptist Village in Dallas where she had made her home during her retirement years. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 2:30 pm Friday, Sept 10, in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Ruby Kate Sissel was born Mar 24, 1900 in Birthright, Hopkins Co, TX to William and Lois Connor McCauley Sissel. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Paris where her membership had been most of her adult life and where she taught a Sunday school class for many years. She was a 1926 graduate of the Paris Training School for Nurses, affiliated with the Sanitarium of Paris, now L. P. McCuistion Regional Medical Center, and was employed there as a registered nurse for many years. She was later called from an early retirement to be the hospital's first medical records librarian, a position she held until her retirement in 1965. Prior to entering the nursing profession, she taught school in Delta County. She married James Edward "Ned" Haden, Sept 16, 1927. He died May 9, 1946. Known survivors include a brother William Otto Sissel of Emory and a large number of nieces and nephews, to whom she and Mr. Haden were often surrogate parents.
