Aug. 20. ...for the Sixth Congressional district of Virginia for the Confederate reunion to be held next month in Lynchburg. ....sponsors ....Miss Virginia Alice Hall, of Franklin County, a grandniece of Gen. Jubal A. Early and her maid of honor, Miss Mary Verser Gravely, daughter of Capt. Peyton V. Gravely of Danville.

According to her mother's obituary in early May of 1923, Mary's married name was Clapp, she remarried to Charles Albert Cutler, soon after.

Cards have been received in the city announcing the marriage of Mrs. Mary Gravely Clapp to Charles Albert Cutler. The wedding took place last Wednesday in New York City and they are now living in Brooklyn. Mrs. Cutler will be remembered here as Miss Mary Gravely, daughter of P. B. Gravely at one time a widely known tobacco manufacturer.

Mary must have had a daughter by Mr. Clapp:

Mrs. C. A. Cutler and daughter, Miss Mary Gravely Clapp of Brooklyn, NY, arrived last night to be the guests of Mrs. James I. Pritchett, Jr.

Young Mary apparently took her stepfather's name.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Cutler of this city and Danville VA have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Mary Graveley Cutler, to William I Nichols, son of Mrs. William I. Nichols of New York and Westport Conn., and the late Rev. William I. Nichols, who was general secretary of the Brooklyn Bureau of Charities for many years. Miss Cutler attended the Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA.
Mr. Nichols was graduated from Milton Academy, Milton, Mass. class of '22 and from Harvard four years later. He then passed a year in residence at Balliol College, Oxford, and for two years was assistant dean of Harvard College. At Harvard he was a member of the Hasty Pudding and Delphic Clubs and the Signet Society. He is now with the National Electric Power Company here.
No date has been set for the wedding.
