The spelling contest announced by the Business College several weeks ago was successfully carried out on Saturday at the College rooms under the management of County Sept. Earle Barnes. It attracted twenty three young people from different parts of the county. The contest consisted of spelling taken from the Indiana Speller were dictated to the pupils to be written by them. In arithmetic two long addition problems and eight questions on interest and percentage were given. The examination occupied from ten in the morning until almot four o'clock in the afternoon. It will be an experience that will be valuable to the pupils who took part in it. They were as follows:
....Ruth Conger, Olive Newlan, Ray Goff of Union Township... Sept. Barnes conducted the contest in a thoroughly efficient manner. The result of the examination will be published in the newspaper.

Thirty-Three Eighth Grade Pupils Satisfactorily Pass Second Examination.
Out of a total of 71 eighth grade pupils who took the second examination Saturday April 20 for graduation from the graded schools of the county, 33 passed and 38 failed.... Those who made satisfactory grades upon the second examination are the following arranged by townships:

Olive's 2nd husband was likely a Roberts. The obituary of John Stacy Harbin in 1967 lists Olive's two York children, also a son and daughter whose surnames are Roberts.

I have not been able to find Olive and children in 1930.

After the death of Ray Adamson, Olive married John Stacy Harbin.
