Samuel had at least five children of his own when he married the widow Elizabeth Fry. Mary born ca 1794, Hannah b. 1797, Sidney Ann, b. ca 1798, Thomas b. ca 1800, and Nancy Elizabeth, b. 1803.

Aaron Fry's family migrated to Missouri in 1827; the Pattersons, his mother and stepfather followed in April of 1834. Aaron's diary says they came by steam boat.

William Triby was apprenticed to Aaron Fry in 1824. He married Nancy Elizabeth Patterson. William Tribbey and wife Elizabeth are in the 1850 census in Monroe Co MO when his age was given as 44 and place of birth as Kentucky. Samuel M. Patterson, age 83, was living with them. Aaron's mother Elizabeth had died 12 Sep 1844. Samuel's daughter Mary Patterson had married Joseph Goss and they were living in Monroe Co as well. All of the Patterson children came to Missouri.
