Individual Details

There are consistenly two James Vances in Jefferson Co that are not old enough to be the James that was a son of Patrick, although some researchers have claimed them to be that son. Either of these could fit in the time period when David & Rhue Taylor were married.

There is a James who married Rebecca Robinson, 1 Nov 1821, in Grainger Co and he seems to appear in the 1850 census in Jefferson Co as age 48. He might be just a little old to have been David's son.
Another James Vance in Jefferson Co, 1850, was age 38 - his wife was Margaret, the same age. Born about 1812. He did have a son named Eli, as did the John Vance believed to be another son of David & Rhue Taylor Vance. This James also had a granddaughter named "Rue" probably for James' mother. I believe this is the correct James Vance, son of David.
