Gabriel's wife said to be Elizabeth Ashburne who was born ca 1757, died in 1840.

Gabriel owned over 5000 acres of land in Caswell Co. He was a Captain in the Revolution; sheriff of Caswell Co in 1801. He served as a Representative to the NC House of Commons 1793-94, from Caswell.

Gabriel Lea made out his will 17 Nov 1826. To his beloved wife Elizabeth during her lifetime such property that she and sons William and James think proper for her support. Son James to have that part of land on which he has made improvements. Daughter Mary Morton is to be charged with $500 that she has already received, being the value of the land on which she lives and for which I made a deed to Elijah Morton. Son William to receive 2 equal shares. Son Vincent nothing except love and affection. Son Gabriel B., 1 share. Daughter Elizabeth one part. Daughter Mary one part. Son James one part. Daughter Phoebe one part. Daughter Barbara one part. Making in whole, eight parts. Sons William and James to be Executors. Signed: Gabriel Lea. In presence of James M. Lea, Willis M. Lea.
