31 Dec 1759 Richmond DB 12/141 John Morton Jordan of Lunenburg Parish, Richmond Co to Alvin Mountjoy. His interest in a water grist mill and two acres of land owned jointly by Jordan and Mountjoy. Rec. 4 Feb 1760.

John Morton Jordan had extensive estates in Maryland, Virginia, England and the Island of Antigua, as well as property in ships. His will dated 6 Jun 1771, proved in King George Co VA on 3 Oct of 1771, names his wife Dorothy, young son John Nesbit Jordan, half-brothers Joseph and George Morton, half-sisters Mrs. Mary Sydenham, widow of Jonathan Sydenham, and Frances Meriwether [her husband was Nicholas Meriwether, son of David & Anne Holmes Meriwether].

From Chancery papers in Williamsburg: John Morton Jordan was a partner of Robert Maxwell, Merchant of London, 1766-1769. He visited Maryland in 1769 and was an agent for Lord Baltimore. He died 23 Jul 1771 in Bermuda.

He married Dorothy Darby 20 Apr 1762 in London. She was a daughter of Nesbit Darby and Elizabeth his wife [who was age 65 in 1799].
