Hull Enterprise: Enjoying good health with a splendid memory and many other natural instincts, Mrs. Mary B. Carr, of this city, enjoys the honor of being the oldest person in Pike county.
Monday was the anniversary of her natal day, and a few of the relatives gathered at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Smith, to make the day as pleasant for the venerable lady as possible.
At times, Mrs. Carr shows indications of a general breakdown [impairment]; but, as a rule, she has been enjoying the best of health, taking into consideration her age.
Mrs. Carr is one of the pioneer settlers of Illinois, and has lived in Pike county about a half century. She has a score of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends, who hold her in the highest esteem.
Uncle Henry Orr, another old pioneer, will celebrate his ninety-third birthday July 16. He, too, is enjoying fairly good health, when one considers his age.
