That a Sally Poindexter married a Thomas Johnson in 1803 in Louisa Co VA is recorded.

Sally is often seen in databases as the daughter of William Green Poindexter and Jane Quarles. They did have a daughter Sarah "Sally" whose middle name was Quarles. However, that Sally was more likely born about 1803, or a year or two later. And her marriage record is 1 Jun 1825, Greenbrier Co VA - Thomas W. Johnson to Sarah Q. Poindexter.

I believe this is a case of two different Sally Poindexters and two different Thomas Johnsons. I have not been able to identify this Sally.

There are several Poindexters, seemingly from Louisa County that don't fit well into the family. I suspect Bond Veale Poindexter had children we have never identified and it is also quite possible that his parents, Thomas Poindexter and Sarah Veale had additional children. John "Stray" Poindexter would be one of these disconnected Poindexters, as would the extra David Poindexter living early on in Surry Co, NC. The John Poindexter who left a will naming sons Chapman and Lovell is another disconnected Poindexter.
