Holland Jones was a minister and a professor at Concordia Seminay, St. Louis. Concordia is a Lutheran school. In 2009 he was listed in a publication of the Central States Synod as celebrating his 60 years [presumably as a minister]. He was still living in 2008 as indicated in his wife's obituary. The address in the Synod publication was House Springs, MO - where his wife died.

I found online that Holland had served congregations on a temporary basis. he served at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Carrollton, IL from August 1949 thru October. He also filled the pulpit at Concordia Lutheran Church, Sikeston, MO, for the month of June [ I could not determine the year - it was part of a "Looking Back" column of the the Sikeston Stand Democrat, publish 15 Feb 2008.]

I know that in 1958, Holland and his family were preparing to go to Europe for a year, because Marie and Holland sent Joe McKim adoption papers to sign giving permission for Holland Jones to legally adopt Sandra Maureen so that her passport could have her name as Sandra Jones as she had always gone by that name. The letter was written on a Concordia Seminary letterhead.

In 1968, archeological excavations were carried out at Tell Ta'annek, under the auspices of the Graduate School of Concordia Seminary. Holland H. Jones was listed as one of the Field Assistants. Ta'annek was a city of ancient Canaan, today in Israel

[Ta'annek was] A fortified Canaanite town at the southern end of the Jezreel Valley, close to the Wadi Ara pass. The earliest mention of it comes in the account of the conquest of Megiddo in 1468 B.C. by Thutmosis III It occupies a strategic point at the intersection of important roads coming from Acco in the north, Jerusalem in the south and the Mediterranean coast in the west. The site has been extensively excavated and remains found from the Early Bronze Age down to the Arab period.
