His will is in Will Book 0, 1752-1773, Halifax Co VA, p.316
Plantation where living to wife Ruth, then to fall to youngest son Daniel. William Coughlin, land he now lives on & 48 acres to be added. William Payne, son of John, the 101 acres where he lives. Deed to John Owen for land I sold him when he pays 50 #'s. All other lands & Entrys to son Poindexter Payne. All moveable estate to wife to distribute to my daughters Anne, Mary & Milly. Executor: Thomas Payne & Poindexter Payne

19 September 1771. Presented by Thomas Payne, Exr. & proved by two of wit. Sec: Nathaniel Terry, Gent. Liberty reserved to Pondexter Payne the other executor to join in probate when he shall think fit.
