p. 208-10 has considerable detail about Samuel.
He was executor of his father's will and inherited his father's farm in Townsend. He held several offices including highway surveyor and warden. He served on committees regarding schools, the minister's salary, bridges, and county roads. He was in the service of Capt John Stevens' foot-company of Townsend who received bayonets from the Colony in 1759 (French & Indian War - it isn't known if he actually served in that war). He was a member of the Committee of Correspondence, Inspection & Safety from 1776-1778 - unquestionable loyalty to the patriot cause.
He is listed in an old DAR lineage book as a Patriot. Member #97279, Miss Florence Leland Manning who joined through his son Levi.

In 1794 and then in 1802, he conveyed to his son William, his lands in Townsend - one-half each instance. No estate appears in the Probate Office in 1809 when Samuel died.
He united with the Orthodox Church 22 Jan 1764; his wife Abigail had done so on on 2 Oct 1763. He married Abigail Avery, daughter of Robert and Sarah of Townsend, previously of Greenland, NH, granddaughter of Robert Avery, Sr, of Greenland. Robert Sr, in middle life, had a wife Mary - she may have been the mother of Robert, Jr.
Samuel and Abigail are buried in the old cemetery, by his parents. Their children all born in Townsend.
