Revolutionary War Pension Claim W.6793. Francis Marshall was born 8 Nov 1750 in Cumberland Co VA. While living in Chesterfield Co VA he enlisted & served 3 months in Capt. Thomas Harris Co, Col. Dangerfield's VA Regt. While residing in Mecklenberg Co VA he served 3 month in Capt Kindricks Co, Col. John Archer's VA Regt and 3 months in Capt. Geo. Williamson's Co, Col. Parker's VA Regt. He was in the Battle of Gwyn's Island.
He remained in Mecklenberg Co for 30 and then moved to Sumner Co TN where he resided when he was allowed pension on his application dated 7 Sep 1832.

Surety for the marriage of Francis & Phoebe was Royal Lockett. "William & Mary Magazine" lists this marriage on p.291, Vol. 7 2nd Series.

Francis' father was also Francis Marshall. His wife was Mary, surname possibly Branch.

Francis Marshall of Sumner Co TN. Names son Daivd - one feather bed & furniture out of my 1st patrimony, to say the property I had before I last married to make his equal. To Davod, Hardiway, Jesse & the heirs of Richard, other property to be distributed among them equally.
Four children have not shard as laragely as eight others who are Nancy, Phoebe, Josiah, Francis, Polly, Rebecca, Elizabeth & Jane who have all had their portion.
To Partheny & Malena Marshal, one feather bed & furniture out of my 2nd patrimony and slave Joshua who will remain with my wife Sarah Marshall until Parthena is 21 years old. Francis Marshall married 2nd on 2 Aug 1813, to Sarah Jacobs. She was allowed pension on her application 31 May 1853 when she was 78 years old and living in Macon Co TN.
