Douglas is said to have married Anna Claypool. They moved to the Current River in Wayne Co MO, now Ripley Co. Anna died after 1830 and Douglas remarried to Elizabeth Wallis, b. 1795 in KY. The children were all Anna's: Sarah who married Jacob McCann, John Claypool Merrill who married (1) Margaret Sandlin and (2) Sarah Patterson, Lurany who married Russell Lowry, Anna who married William P. Smith, Nancy Veretta who died young, and Douglas who died in 1852.
