Individual Details
Isaac GRINDSTAFF
(1754 - 1825)
Isaac served in the Revolution. He is listed in 1787 as owning 200 acres in the Watauga Settlement of Washington Co. TN [now Carter Co TN] An Isaac Grindstaff was bondsman in Washington Co TN for the marriage of George Gabbert and Catherine Smith on 27 Dec 1787. Apparently George was a nephew. There is no known connection between this Catherine Smith and the Margaret Smith that married George's brother Jacob Gabbard.
Isaac was likely married twice but he had seven children by the second wife: an unknown male, Isaac, Sally, Mary, Margaret/Jane, Henry & Arbella.
It is thought that Isaac returned to Burke Co NC as the census there shows him in 1790-1820.
