We have direct evidence demonstrating that the 534 acres of land John Bushrod gifted to his grandson, Nicholas, b. ca. 1714, was subsequently disposed of by the heirs at law of Nicholas's daughter, Mildred. We can now deduce, reliably, that Mildred Thornton married Nicholas son of William, not William's brother, Nicholas III
