Individual Details
Rev. Thomas George Allen Tharp
(15 Sep 1825 - 3 Nov 1888)
Find A Grave Memorial# 45682380
Thomas George Allen Tharp was the son of George Allentharp and Ann Spencer Tharp. His father shortened the name from Allentharp to Tharp and used Allen as a middle name for all his sons and daughters. For some reason unknown to the family Thomas was buried as Rev. T. C. Atharp but the name was truly AllenTharp
Note: The surname Pettypool was often seen in the early day as P'pool and eventually became Pool. I suspect the treatment of his name was similar. Looking at the stone which is fairly tall and narrow, I think the cutter would have had difficulty fitting Allentharp.
See wife Adelaide's notes for more information on his family.
