Individual Details
Jesse Woodson James
(1847 - 1882)
Jesse James' wife Zerelda Mimms was also his 1st cousin.
He often used the Howard surname as an alias. At the time of his death, he was living in St. Joseph, MO as Tom Howard. The name had come from the family of his uncle Tillman West's mother.
Databases online claim the following is his census record in 1880 - I'm not at all sure that it is. I would expect Jesse to have been very careful to avoid being counted at all!
