Thomas Commander Russell

Capt Russell was an officer in the Continental line during the Revolution and a charter member of the Society of the Cincinnati. Their daughter Harriet E. Russell, married her third cousin, Daniel Starnes about 1808. Daniel was the son of Ebenezer Starnes and Elizabeth Young.

Daniel Starnes b. 1783, m. 1809 Harriet E. Russell, dau of Capt Thomas Commander & Mary (Starnes) Russell of Charleston. Editor & published 1808-1814 of "The Mirror of the Time" in Augusta. Files of paper have been preserved. C. 4 Feb 1814 in Augusta at age 32, buried in St. Paul's Churchyard. Children Judge Ebenezer Starnes b. 19 Mar 1810, Camilla b. 1812 m. Williamson Smith of Rutherford TN; settled in New Orleans; August b. 1 Jan 1814, m. 20 Jun 1833 Dr. John W. Richardson of Murfreesboro TN

The Russells were said to have lived in Columbia Co GA. If so it was at a later time as I have found records of Thomas Commander Russell in SC & other counties in GA:

[This would seem to indicate Harriet was old enough to witness a deed in 1799 - 14 was the minimum age. This could make her maybe about 23 to 25 when she married in 1808]
