My dad is my walking, living history book. He is 82 and has been telling us
"Pippin" stories for years. He never varies when telling a story---always the
same. I can't begin to tell you how I will miss him when he's no longer with
us. I never tire of hearing him tell of the old days no matter how often he re-
peats the stories.
He has told us how his mother's (Frona Kirby) family objected to her marry-
ing his father (Granville) because of the difference in their ages. He was born
in 1868 and she in 1886--- 18 years apart. Before I began to research the
family history, Dad taught me a trick to remember the years of their births.
Just switch the last two digits. Course, now I know them by heart.
