Squire Boone

(13 Oct 1760 - 28 Jun 1817)

Many people show this Squire Boone as the same Squire Jr., son of Squire Boone & Sarah Morgan, who was born 1744 and married Jane VanCleave, 11 Jul 1765, in NC. I believe that they are two different Squire Boones, almost a generation apart, married to two very different ladies.

Other interesting notes from the Pension Application.
In her application, Anna stated that she and Squire were married by a magistrate on the banks of the Kentucky River, and she didn't know if any official record was ever made.
Their son Higgason G. Boone testified for his mother and to the papers she presented that contained the above records of the births, etc.
The papers are not a bible record, but appear to be pages from a small blank book - a page for each child, except for the twin sons who were recorded on the same page. The births of Squire and Anna, and the date of their marriage was on the first page. The death dates were written in a different hand.
Samuel Boone, brother of Squire, also testified to the war service and the marriage on 4 Apr 1840; he stated he was 82 years of age. He testified at Winchester, Clark Co. Samuel with with Squire when he served the two terms of duty in Camden District, South Carolina. Samuel gave a few more details of the duty and battles than had Anna. He also stated that Squire and Anna were married by Eli Cleveland in Fayette District, Kentucky. He said they had raised 12 or 13 of the 15 children born to them.
