12 Aug 1766 In the Register of Deeds of Orange Co is the following: Hugh Porter to Jane Wilson. 393 acres. Wm Gibbons, subscribing witness proved.

Online WorldConnect data states that the family left NC during the Revolution and moved to South Carolina. Hugh said to have served in Thomas Sumter's cavalry during the Revolution [I would think this was much more likely Hugh Jr] Captured at New Bern NC and imprisoned.
