Edward Roe Stamps
(30 Apr 1844 - 30 Apr 1891)
Edward volunteered in the Civil War before he was of age and became a captain; was captured and taken prisoner at Point Lookout. He studied law at UNC and practiced law at Tarboro, NC. Edward married Betty Vines Williams on 26 Jan 1876; they had children Miriam and Edward Roe II.
